Introduction to Green Building Practice Workshops
Accredited Professional Workshops
Full Accredited Professional Training

The training programme will develop the capacity of government officials

The Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) in partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH Climate Support Programme, the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF) and the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) will implement a green building training programme for government officials.  The programme is a continuation of the 2018 public sector training programme.

The training programme will develop the capacity of government officials involved in urban or town planning and the design, construction, operation and maintenance of government buildings to implement green building principles and rating tools to enable the transition towards a sustainable built environment.

The purpose of the capacity development of public sector officials is to

  • Institutionalise green building practices;
  • enhance the mainstreaming of green building into relevant climate change response planning and policies;
  • support the implementation of building efficiency programmes; and
  • improve the monitoring and evaluation of building performance.
